Meet the Innkeepers
George and Alexandra Escalera enjoy the art of hospitality and entertaining guests from all over the world at the Raphael Inn Bed and Breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania..
George an Army Veteran and man of many hats, talents and interests is from Los Angeles, California. He lived there for almost 50 years and his background in the movie industry and his love of music and art brings an added element to your visit at the Inn. A writer at heart he still enjoys the art of penmanship and communicating the old fashioned way by handwritten letters.
George a father of three grown children along with Alexandra’s four grown children have joined their families with a commitment to loving each other’s children as if they were their own. They enjoy 10 lovely grandchildren five who live in Nashville, Tennessee, three in Los Angeles, California and two in Vancouver, Washington.
Alexandra has been discovering her talents since the age of 18 when she joined the U.S. Army. After the birth of her four children she devoted several years to their home schooling. Next while running a cookie business she worked with her sister Marti in a paint and wallpaper business. This eventually led to Alexandra’s desire to start her own business.
Eight years as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter, working in an Emergency Room and medical offices led to an early recognition for her love and care of other people.
After a recent reassessment in Adams County, Alexandra noticed some serious problems. Wanting local government to pay attention to the plight of the local taxpayer she started a group “Peoples Voice Adams” to seek justice for the taxpayers. She has a group of very talented and dedicated local citizens helping to address these problems.
People have been a passion for George and Alexandra and it’s just natural for them to share their life and Bed and Breakfast with those who would otherwise be strangers……

Wolfs Lodging PostcardNearly a hundred years old this three story brick Inn was built by the Wolf family who operated it as a tourist home for over 30 years. In the age before big chain hotels and motels Wolf’s Lodging was a popular place to stay for weary motorists traveling south on Business Route 15. When Wolf’s eventually closed it was sold and turned into a private residence. It was purchased again in 2003 with a vision for what has now become the Raphael Inn. It exhibits the personal tastes of the new owners and Innkeepers George and Alexandra Escalera. Raphael Inn has been cited by former guests as being unique as well as comfortable. It is the ideal setting for romance with its Paris Cafe dining room and the over all ambiance of the Inn.
